Depeche Mode — Boys Don’t Cry

Depeche Mode’s name, a Cure song title, and Joy Division’s graphic. Chris Ott put three different bands into one deliberately wrong shirt.

Chris Ott, the writer behind Shallow Rewards, created this parody in June 2013. The Unknown Pleasures pulse graphic sits between the name Depeche Mode and Boys Don’t Cry, a song by The Cure.

A surviving Rockets & Rayguns reblog dated 28 June 2013 links to Ott’s original Shallow Rewards post. That original post is no longer available. Postpunk’s reblog preserves the artwork itself, and Washington Post reporting from 2019 independently credits Ott with the design. The first shirt printer or shop has not been established.
